prepare for your wax:
Waxing is easier than ever with quality hard wax, like Mermaid Wax, and great technique!
But there are some things you can do to make sure you get the best experience possible.
1. Grow your hair!
Two weeks before your first wax, make sure to let your hair grow out! No trimming or shaving allowed! This way the wax will be able to grip your hair. Your hair should be at least 1/4 inch long.
2. Exfoliate
Prepare your hair and skin for waxing by exfoliating the night before your wax.
I recommend using an exfoliating mitt or washcloth, or a gentle body polish (no salt or sugar scrubs).
3. Shower and Go!
The day of your wax, take a shower to soften the hair and skin. This will help me pull the hair up more easily!
If you are concerned about the pain, understand that waxing is quick but there is some discomfort. Feel free to take a Tylenol 45 minutes before your wax to help.
To avoid injury...
Some medications are contraindicated for waxing, like topical acne medications (tretinoin, adapalene and other retinoids) which require you to stop using them for at least a week before and after waxing.
You should not wax six months after using Accutane or chemotherapy.
